How to register a .np domain, step by step
- Search for the name. On register.com.np, type the name without www, http:// or the extension, pick the extension and click Search.
- Create an account. If the name is free, click Register Now, sign up with your email and a password, and verify the email.
- Prepare your documents. Scan your ID (individuals) or registration certificate (organizations), plus the request letter. Uploads must be JPG, PNG, GIF or SVG, at most 800 KB each.
- Fill in the application. Sign in, fill in the administrative contact (the actual owner, not your web developer), optional technical contact and name servers, and attach the documents.

- Point the domain to your host. Once approved, set name servers like ns1.yourhost.com from the dashboard (Edit DNS). Changes are processed twice a day and propagate in 24–48 hours.
.np domain cover letter generator
For a personal domain, enter the domain, your full name and permanent address. The letter updates as you type and warns you about the mistakes the registry rejects most often. Download it as a JPG or PNG under 200 KB, ready to upload. Nothing you enter leaves your browser. Organizations need a letter on their own letterhead with a stamp and signature instead.

Common reasons .np domains get rejected
| Reason | How to avoid it |
|---|---|
| Name does not match the documents | Personal domains must be based on the name on your ID; organization domains on the registered name, brand, product or service. |
| Last-name-only domains | Surnames and caste names (e.g. sharma.com.np) are reserved for organizations representing that name. |
| Wrong extension | .org.np is for non-profits, .edu.np for educational institutions. Most individuals and businesses want .com.np. |
| Unreadable or missing documents | Blurred, cropped or incomplete scans are rejected. Name and citizenship number must be clearly visible. |
| Invalid request letter | Organization letters must be on official letterhead with stamp and authorized signature. |
| Missing applicant details | Full name, email and mobile number are all required. |
| Name servers given as IP addresses | Use host names like ns1.example.com; 192.168.1.1 is not accepted. |
